Fall 2021 Programs and Courses at The Rosenbach

September 13, 2021— This season, The Rosenbach is hosting a series of in-person and online programs and courses inspired by our collections.
This season’s series of reading courses begins on September 14 with a SOLD OUT offering, The Curator’s Toolkit: Up Close and Personal with The Rosenbach Collections. This brand-new course is taught by The Rosenbach’s Collections Department and students will learn the skills for studying, handling, and preserving the fine art, antiques, rare books, and manuscripts in our collection. The Rosenbach’s reading courses are led by a literary expert and cover fiction, history, poetry, and more. Also offered this fall are a series of online courses that cover the works of Octavia E. Butler, Dante’s Inferno, Thomas Mann’s Doctor Faustus, James Joyce’s Ulysses, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and two special courses The Lives of Early American Women with Kalela Williams and Soulful Foodways: African American and Culinary History with Psyche Williams-Forson and Kelsey Scouten Bates. The Rosenbach’s successful Sundays With… web series continues with Sundays with Jane Eyre. Starting on September 19, over 30 weeks we’ll examine why Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre remains such a fascinating book to read, study, and enjoy.
Our literary-themed cocktail parties return after an 18-month hiatus with Bibliococktails in the Garden on September 23 and Drinking with Dickens December 1.
The Rosenbach’s signature Behind the Bookcase tours continue with unparalleled access to see, and even touch, rare and important items not usually accessible to the public. This fall: The Artistry and Industry of Bookmaking on October 14, Dracula: The Enduring Monster on October 28, The Man, the Myth, the Library: Meet Dr. Rosenbach on November 18, and Friendship and Charity on December 9.
In Conversation with The Rosenbach, our signature lecture series, continues online and in-person this fall. We’re kicking off the season with In Conversation with Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar, the authors of Still Mad: American Women Writers and the Feminist Imagination on September 29.
